Alfin Rizal, known as the National Hero of the Philippines, was a Filipino statesman, historian, author, poet and educator. He was also one of the first members of the Propaganda Movement in the Philippines. He was also one of the co-founders of the Liga Filipina Independiente to fight for independence from Spain. In 1901, he established the Central School in Manila as a free school for boys and girls from poor families, who would otherwise have been denied education due to poverty or caste
He established the Philippine Normal School to train teachers. In 1934, he became a member of the Asia Asia Association to spread Asian culture throughout Asia.
