Ad Reinhardt was born in Vienna, Austria in 1910. He attended the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and began his career as an independent artist. After having an exhibition at the Galerie Nierendorf in Vienna he moved to Paris in 1936 where he worked as a graphic designer for French book publishers. After the war, Reinhardt settled in New York, where he became active as an artist, exhibiting throughout the United States and Europe
He died on March 8, 1975 in Santa Monica, CA.
