A. Esquivel is a Spanish writer and translator of fiction, non-fiction and plays. She has received the prestigious Premio Biblioteca Breve for her translation of Molloy's "The Wild Party" and the Premio de Narrativa Irlanda for her translation of James Joyce's "Ulysses". Her first novel, "The Man Who Loved Dogs", was published in 1997 and nominated for several awards, including the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award
Her second novel, "Miguel's Story", won the 2005 Premio Cervantes and was also nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. In 2007, she won the Premio Cervantes again with "There Was a Little Girl", which was also nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
