The First is an American drama series that aired on ABC for two seasons between October 11, 2015, and April 1, 2017. The show was created by Jason Katims and was inspired by the 2014 book The First 48 Hours by former Philadelphia police officer Richard Holt. The series follows homicide detectives inside the Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit as they investigate homicides.
