“If you are happy with what you have got, you are very lucky. If you are unhappy with what you have got, it is your own fault.” ― William Feather I don't know about you but I try to keep an open mind about things. Sometimes it's hard because I think other people are right and sometimes it's hard because I'm just not sure. I think that's why I don't get stressed out too much Read more

It won't do me any good to get stressed out anyway. That's just more energy that I have to suck up, which will just leave me feeling more helpless and overwhelmed at some point down the road. Maybe it was the way my parents raised me or the way my teachers taught me but ever since I was a little kid I've always thought of myself as somewhat of a problem-solver. When I was in elementary school, our English teacher made us read this story about a little boy who had a really hard time getting up in the morning.

He didn't want to get out of bed because he didn't want to get up but he knew he had to get up. Every time he tried to get up, his mom would ask him if he wanted breakfast, reminding him that he had to eat breakfast if he wanted his mom to make him breakfast... But this little boy didn't want breakfast! So one night his mom decided to take him on a surprise trip to breakfast at the diner... At first this little boy was really nervous about going on a trip with his mom but then when they got there, they ordered all these delicious looking food and sure enough, when their food came out they were eating the BEST breakfast that the little boy had EVER had in his entire life! The visions of syrup dripping down his chin while he chowed down on pancakes and sausage turned into something totally different than what he expected! He looked up at his mom and said "Mommy can we come back here again?" She smiled and nodded her head yes! And they went back there every week for breakfast! It was so much fun! And they went back so many times until she finally decided to take him for dinner one night... The little boy couldn't believe how great dinner was! He knew they were eating really good food, but nothing like what they had eaten at the diner before! His mom told him that they ate at places like this all the time now because it's more fun than eating at home...

The organist was almost at the end of the anthem’s long introduction, and as the crescendo increases the cathedral began to glitter before my eyes until I felt as if every stone in the building was vibrating in anticipation of the sweeping sword of sound from the Choir. The note exploded in our midst, and at that moment I knew our creator had touched not only me but all of us, just as Harriet had touched that sculpture with a loving hand long ago, and in that touch I sensed the indestructible fidelity, the indescribable devotion and the inexhaustible energy of the creator as he shaped his creation, bringing life out of dead matter, wresting form continually from chaos. Nothing was ever lost, Harriet had said, and nothing was ever wasted because always, when the work was finally completed, every article of the created process, seen or unseen, kept or discarded, broken or mended — EVERYTHING was justified, glorified and redeemed. Susan Howatch

We believe because it gives us faith. It gives us the willingness to go through our day, to keep the existentialist threat of meaninglessness away. We believe because we crave to be seen, to be known, to be understood. We believe because that is the only thing we can do. If there is no one to judge us - to tell us that we are good, and that if we are bad, we can be redeemed - why bother living at all? Why bother being good at all? If there is no one to look after us, and we are truly alone in this universe, what purpose do we have? We have nothing but the present moment, and only temporariness. Tarun Betala

KINGDOM OF THE WOMBFrom her thighs, she gives you life And how you treat she who gives you life Shows how much you value the life given to you by the Creator. And from seed to dust There is ONE soul above all others --That you must always show patience, respect, and trust And this woman is your mother. And when your soul departs your body And your deeds are weighed against the feather There is only one soul who can save yours And this woman is your mother. And when the heart of the universe Asks her hair and mind, Whether you were gentle and kind to her Her heart will be forced to remain silent And her hair will speak freely as a separate entity, Very much like the seaweed in the sea --It will reveal all that it has heard and seen. This woman whose heart has seen yours, First before anybody else in the world, And whose womb had opened the door For your eyes to experience light and more --Is your very own MOTHER.So, no matter whether your mother has been cruel, Manipulative, abusive, mentally sick, or simply childish How you treat her is the ultimate test. If she misguides you, forgive her and show her the right way With simple wisdom, gentleness, and kindness. And always remember, That the queen in the Creator's kingdom, Who sits on the throne of all existence, Is exactly the same as in yours. And her name is, T H E DIVINE MOTHER. . Suzy Kassem

My ship — the Demeter, was a star-liner operated by the Red Star Line. I say ‘was’ because of the events you will read about in this account. This is a long letter, I know, but I had quite a long time to write it. You probably already know this, having seen the commercials running on all the major channels for the last twenty years or so, but the Red Star Line is the largest cruise operator in the known universe. Unless something has changed between now and by the time you read this, this is probably still true. In fact, customers of the Red Star Line get more quality, value for money — and smiles by Demeter than they do anywhere else. Okay, okay. It’s an old joke — corny for sure, but what the hell. I should have asked why any room in the house was better than home to me when she entered it, and barren as a desert when she went out again–why I always noticed and remembered the little changes in her dress that I had noticed and remembered in no other woman’s before–why I saw her, heard her, and touched her (when we shook hands at night and morning) as I had never seen, heard, and touched any other woman in my life? . Moments later, Sona Kilroy, heading for the open doorway, stepped over the sergeant’s body. With an old auto-rifle in his left hand and his favorite sword in the other, and the sharp melodic din of bolts and bullets ringing in his ears, ‘the Hammer’ grinned an evil grin to himself, well pleased. He wished he could’ve seen the look on the face of Indomitable’s captain when he realized the tables had just been turned on him! The thought amused him. It was bloody hilarious. He cackled, reveling in this complete reversal of fortune. Then he stalked onward with conviction, a grim smile on his lips — intent on taking the ship for himself. * * *. Christina Engela
