I don't want to be rich and famous but I want to die knowing I stood infront of a broken man and gave him one reason to smile again.

About This Quote

I don't want to be rich and famous but I want to die knowing I stood infront of a broken man and gave him one reason to smile again. is a quote from the movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness.' In this quote, Chris Gardner meets with his parents for the first time in years. When his mother sees him, she starts crying and tells him that he has been in jail for a long time. She then says that she would have given anything to see her son one more time before he died.

She says that he was the most important person in her life and she wanted to make sure that she had one more chance to say goodbye. His father is also emotional during this meeting and tells Chris that he always knew that his son was meant for greater things than what he was doing. Chris goes on to say that he would rather go back to prison knowing that he did everything in his power to give some reason for his mother and father to smile again.

This is what we should all strive for in life: finding reasons, no matter how small, why we should live and not die.
