About This Quote

The idea that the state should have the power to take away someone’s freedom is a scary concept. However, from a legal standpoint, this concept makes sense. The law needs to be a balance between protecting the rights of the people and holding the criminals responsible for their actions. In this case, it appears as though the state has given over its power to abuse citizens.

Instead of being responsible for their own actions, citizens are now being taught that they have no rights and can be made to feel as though they are subhuman. To put it simply, it is not only inhuman but also anti-American.
