Adam FouldsMadness has no sense of humour
About This Quote
This quote is a perfect example of the confusion that can arise when people define madness incorrectly. Let’s do a little thought experiment. Imagine a man who is suffering from a mental illness. He hears voices, sees things that aren’t there and has trouble distinguishing between reality and illusion.
That man is suffering from a mental illness, just as mad as any other person suffering from that illness. The difference is that he has been misdiagnosed, which means that he is being mistreated by people who do not understand his condition. In this case, he is being treated with drugs and electric shock therapy instead of with compassion and understanding.
