I shook my head. "Not Interested" I said.he straightened up. "Not interested in what?" In you." I couldn't be more blunt. Excuse me, miss, but I was going to ask if you would like to sign up for karaoke.

About This Quote

In most people, their lack of interest in another person’s love life is most often confused by them as being a sign of being stuck up. Women who have been dumped by their boyfriends often have trouble finding a new man they are interested in because the men they meet do not want to be seen with them. In this case, a woman who reads a novel and is seen with a man who is not interested in her love life will often be labeled as being stuck up. However, this is only a stereotype and there are many reasons why people would have no interest in someone else’s love life that do not fit into the stereotype of being stuck up.

In this case, that man reading a book was reading it as a way to avoid having to actually talk to the woman he was seeing. Many people read books as a way to avoid talking to others about what they are reading. It would set off alarm bells in the man if he were to talk about his own love life with a woman he was not interested in dating.
