Bloody men are like bloody buses –You wait for about a year And as soon as one approaches your stop Two or three others appear. You look at them flashing their indicators, Offering you a ride. You’re trying to read the destinations, You haven’t much time to decide. If you make a mistake, there is no turning back. Jump off, and you’ll stand there and gaze While the cars and the taxis and lorries go by And the minutes, the hours, the days. Wendy Cope
About This Quote

This quotation is a short story. It tells a simple story about a man who has a tendency to miss his bus so he waits at the bus stop for a year. The result? Additional buses stop right in front of him, adding even more time to his wait. In the end, however, he finds himself stuck in a traffic jam and unable to get home.

In the end, he has to get off the bus and stand there and stare as all other vehicles pass him by. The idea behind this quote is that if you miss your bus then another one will come by, but you will have no way of knowing if it will come by on time or not.
