In 1487 alone, two hundred heretics had-in one of the greatest euphemisms in the history of language-"relaxed, " that is, burned at the stake. Dogs of God, Columbus, the Inquisition, and the Defeat of the Moors

About This Quote

You may have heard this quote before, but it doesn't matter because the Spanish Inquisition (1478-1834) was an organization headed by the Roman Catholic Church that coordinated all judicial cases in Spain. The Inquisition was tasked with rooting out any possible public knowledge that the pope or the Catholic Church were wrong. Anyone who was suspected of having knowledge of heresy or other major heresies was executed. The bodies of those who were executed were often burned at the stake. The idea behind this quote is that even though it may seem like there are very few people who are truly evil in this world, there are tons of people who commit great evil every day.
