In a world full of modern technology, there is a definite trend towards more and more things being able to be fixed. However, as our society grows more and more dependent on technology, we have lost the ability to repair the human heart. In the classic novel, “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte, Heathcliff discovers a time machine that allows him to travel backwards in time. As he does so, he is able to observe his past self and his previous relationships with Catherine Earnshaw and Catherine Linton.
Upon his return to the present day, he realizes that what seemed so perfect in his past could never work for him now. Years later, Catherine Earnshaw still loves him but never loved him as much as she did before her first meeting with Heathcliff. He felt the same way about her but is no longer able to feel this way after she has been through what he had gone through.
