When George spotted the pinup girl of his fondest fantasies across that cheesy bar, he had no idea what his pickup line was going to be. All he knew was that he had to get to her, right that second, and stake his claim. He didn’t give two shits if she was meeting someone, or was there with friends. That bird was going to be his. About This Quote

In the story, "George", by James Howe, George is a man who is very single and lonely. He has been sitting alone for too long and the only thing that could keep him going was finding a woman to be his girlfriend. He had been to a few bars before he found the place he was looking for. He spotted a beautiful woman sitting at a table by herself and decided to approach her. He was going to make his move but he didn't know what to say. He asked the woman if she was there on her own, she said yes and then asked George if he was as well.

When he said that he wasn't she asked him if he knew anyone who wanted to be with her. George said that she was his type and told her that he would give her anything he could to be with her. He made it clear that she must be very special and that it would mean so much to him if she would be his girlfriend. The woman replied by saying: "I think I'm special, but I don't think you're special." George didn't know what to do so he repeated: "I'll give you anything I can…" The woman replied: "It's not about the money." George looked at her and says: "What do you want?" The woman says: "I want you to go home…and think about this." "I don't want your money," George replied.

He simply wanted a girlfriend and nothing more" She said: "No, I don't think you do" and then walked away after making sure George knew who she was. George walked out, devastated and confused as to what had just happened. There were no other women in the bar so how did she know who he was? It started raining so George went home empty handed but with an empty heart. He thought about the conversation they had in there for hours afterwards trying to understand what she meant when she said that his kind of girl doesn't exist anymore.

He wondered why the only women available now are all looking for money or looking for something else entirely?  As days went by George began forgetting about the incident until one day three weeks later when he saw someone familiar coming out of a bar with a man that looked just like him except older. The man didn't seem happy which made George even more suspicious about what he might have been doing during those weeks since they last saw each
