You can’t change people with love. It doesn’t work that way. This quote is protecting the notion that you cannot make someone make a change for the better. When you say, “I love you,” and you expect the other person to listen and listen to what you say and do as a result of that decision, it is not going to happen.
You cannot make someone else change based on your feelings and what you want that person to do for you because it is not going to happen. The person has to want to change for themselves.
