In a recent interview, General Norman Schwartzkof was asked if he thought there was room for forgiveness toward the people who have harboured and abetted the terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks on America. His answer..." I believe that forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting. Norman Schwarzkopf
About This Quote

A while back, an answering machine message was left for the general on my voicemail, more or less explaining what it is that I stand for. He did not return my call. Needless to say, I am not impressed with him. He is more than likely a man who is very proud of his service and has seen too much horror to consider the words of forgiveness.  And yet, even in the face of such horrifying events, I feel that his answer does not suffice me entirely.

Forgiving them can mean many things. It can mean that we are simply choosing to forget about the past and move forward with our lives with no regard for how others have managed to mess up their circumstance so badly. Or it can mean that we are actively trying to help these people re-life their wretched existence so they can repent of their awful deeds and change their ways so they can live lives of recovery and recovery with recovery
