Almost all the time, you tell yourself you're loving somebody when you're just using them. This only looks like love.

Chuck Palahniuk
About This Quote

People love to use others to validate their existence. For example, I may be at a party where everyone is having a great time. But, I’m not having fun. My partner may be having a great time at the party, but it doesn’t mean that I love them or that they love me back.

You can say that you are in love with someone, but if the only part of the relationship you are having fun with are the physical aspects of it, then it isn’t really love. It's just using someone to fill yourself up with things that give you comfort. When the person you are using stops giving you what you want, you will stop loving them.

The truth is that people don't often realize how much they are being used until it is too late.
