About This Quote

Edgar Varese (1882-1965), a French composer and pianist, made many musical compositions in his lifetime. He was best known for creating his “Theatre of Eternal Music”. The “Theatre of Eternal Music” was a series of pieces that were inspired by nature and the natural world. Several of these works feature synthesized sounds and rhythms created from the natural world around Varese.

These pieces were used to create an entirely new type of music. Some scholars say that these pieces influenced other composers such as John Cage and Stockhausen.
