About This Quote

It is hard to understand the fears of others. We have no way of knowing what our fears are or where they come from. Very often, we don't even know how our fears are shaping themselves. The feeling of fear does not end when we stop feeling afraid; it goes into hiding until the next time it comes out into the open.

It can be frightening to be in close contact with someone who is suffering from a mental illness. If you are in the company of someone who is suffering, you may find yourself affected by their fears, even though you might not recognize them as such.
