Born in San Francisco, CA, Zetta Hupf is an award-winning author of nonfiction and fiction. She has published widely in national magazines and anthologies, including the New York Times, O Magazine, McCall's, Essence, USA Today, Yankee Magazine, and More. In 2009 Zetta received a grant from the PEN Center USA to produce "biographies" of ten notable African American women dedicated to continuing the legacy of their lives through their work. Her first book, "The Black Woman’s Guide To Love", published by Health Communications, featured her interviews with a wide range of women ranging from a farmer from Kenya to an opera singer from Argentina. Her second book, "Black Women On Fire: Real Life Stories Of Courage And Hope", published by Health Communications opened up a dialogue about race, gender and beauty in America today.

In 2012 she was awarded a grant from The National Endowment for the Arts to conduct cultural research on African Americans in Birmingham during the Civil Rights Movement. This research led to a documentary film project titled "Reconstructing Alabama." She is also co-founder and Executive Director of The Black Women's Project Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education and equality for African American women. Her newest book is "The Blue Collar Blues Guide To Living Your Best Life." She lives in New Jersey with her husband and two children.
