Zell Miller is a former U.S. Senator and the only man ever to serve as Governor of two different states, Maryland and Georgia. During his tenure in the Senate, Mr. Miller was Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, one of the most powerful positions on Capitol Hill
He was also the first African-American U.S. Senator from Georgia since Reconstruction, serving from 1989 to 1999. A member of his committee's sub-committee on intelligence, Mr.
Miller is said to have been instrumental in developing legislation that regulated international arms sales during his service on the Armed Services Committee. Mr. Miller's life story is one of extraordinary achievement, both as an African-American and an American politician.
