W.T. Purkiser was a British engineer and entrepreneur who made a fortune in commercial aviation and land development in South Africa during the 1920s and 1930s. He was a pioneer of the Transvaal Aviation Company, which he founded in 1925. The company's aircraft were called the "Thompson Twins," after his two sons, William Terence and Terrence Thompson Purkiser, who both became notable pilots
