William Sloane Coffin, Jr (October 22, 1931 – September 11, 2010), was an American religious leader and author. He was the Senior Rabbi of the Union for Reform Judaism in the United States. He held that position from 1972 to 2003. He also wrote numerous works of religion and spirituality, including Prayer: Its Nature, Art, and Practice (1965), From This Day Forward (1977), God's Will (1979), The Good Old Way (1980), Telling the Truth about Sex (1983), The Final Word (1994) and Blessing: A History of Religion in America (1998).
