Willard D. Vandiver was an American author, journalist, and songwriter. Born in Ohio in 1885, he worked as a newspaper reporter in Cincinnati until 1915. During World War I (1917–18), he served as an ambulance driver in France
After the war, he moved to New York City and launched his literary career. He wrote stories for children's magazines and published the novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1929. He also wrote non-fiction books about collecting and investing in stamps and coins.
