Wilkie Martin (1914-1999) was a prolific American novelist, short story writer and screenwriter. He was born in Chicago and worked as a journalist, screenwriter and script doctor for film and television before gaining prominence as a novelist in the 1950s. His principal novels include: The Lost World (1958), The Secret of the Incas (1960), The Defiant Agents (1964), The Secret of Atlantis (1966) and The House of Mirth (1968).
