Wilfred Trotter, born in Greenwich, London in 1932, was trained as a medical doctor and neurologist. He has worked in intensive care and in the fields of neurosurgery and psychosurgery. He has also been a consultant neurologist to the government on brain injury and to the Ministry of Defence. His medical work has involved many traumatic cases and he is experienced in psychiatric illness, especially schizophrenia
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal Society of Medicine, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
The mind likes a strange idea as little as the body likes a strange protein and resists it with similar energy. It would not perhaps be too fanciful to say that a new idea is the most quickly acting antigen known to science.
