Bill Hickok (August 4, 1837 – March 6, 1876) was a notorious frontier lawman, gambler, and gunfighter of the American West. He played a role in many major events of his time, including the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the Lincoln assassination conspiracies, and the massacre at the Deadwood Stagecoach Station. He was murdered by Jack McCall during a card game at Deadwood's saloon on March 6, 1876.
