Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a Japanese warlord and a member of the Tokugawa clan. He was appointed the first daimyo of the Kanto region in 1583 and was a key figure in the unification of Japan. He is considered one of the three great unifiers of Japan, which were Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. He is also known as Hideyoshi Toyotomi or by the posthumous name Toyotoke Hideyoshi meaning "the great invader".
