Her books have been translated into thirty-nine languages and made into television movies, screenplays, and documentaries. Her story about her experience as a woman battling breast cancer was featured on the cover of People magazine. Toni is also the founder of Project Angel Food, an organization that provides meals to homebound cancer patients; cofounder of the Dancer's Fund, an organization that benefits dance education for underprivileged children; and a founding board member of Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian organization that provides free medical care to people in need worldwide
