Thomas Hunt Morgan was a Nobel laureate zoologist and geneticist. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1866. After graduating from the University of California Medical School in 1889, he completed a two-year internship at the Children's Hospital in San Francisco. In 1893 he joined the faculty at Columbia University
In 1897 he was appointed assistant professor of zoology and paleontology at the University of Wisconsin, where he taught for three years. In 1900 he accepted a position at Cornell University, where he remained for the rest of his career. In 1913 he became president of the Carnegie Institution for Science, a position he held until 1928.
He was president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science from 1914 to 1916. He died in Ithaca, New York, in 1928.
