Ted Grant was a British writer and socialist activist. He was elected as the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) in 1920 and also served as editor of the Daily Worker newspaper from its foundation in 1959 until his death. He was a prolific writer and journalist, and is best known for his book The Cause: A Study of Communism (1936), which he wrote during the peak of the Great Depression, when unemployment had reached over 30%.
