She has over 10 years' experience in clinical work with adults and children, including adolescents with ADHD and adults with OCD, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, social skills deficits, and other challenges related to anxiety and trauma. Her professional interests include anxiety disorders (specifically panic disorder/agoraphobia), comorbidity (i.e., anxiety disorders coexisting with other disorders), adolescent development (particularly high-risk populations), and child/adolescent mental health (particularly anxiety disorders). Thompson serves as the CEO of Mindful Solutions Group (MSG), a consulting firm specializing in therapeutic interventions for pediatricians and other primary care providers (PCPs) to help them deliver evidence-based evidence-informed care for their patients with special health care needs (SHCN).
She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents to improve self-regulation skills, self-esteem, social skills deficits, behavioral problems, and academic performance through the implementation of evidenced-based practices such as Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Social Skills Training (SST), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBT).
