Marquis de Talleyrand-Perigord, born Joseph François Benoît Dominique Joseph Ghislain Paul de Bonald, Principe di Castelcicala was a French statesman and diplomat who served as President of the Chamber of Deputies. He is best known for his diplomatic service as an ally of France's King Louis XVI during the early stages of the French Revolution, and as a chief foreign policy advisor to Napoleon Bonaparte during his imperial phase. Undoubtedly one of the world's most astute politicians, Talleyrand left a legacy that was far greater than his own ambitions would have suggested.
