Harris has served as the chairman of the Department of Pathology at Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital, where he is also chief of pathology. Dr.
Harris is also currently the medical director for the Division of Nephrology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital, and is a member of its clinical faculty. He is an active member of medical societies including the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the American Society of Nephrology, and the American College of Laboratories
