Sonu Nigam (born: Sonu Nigam) is a singer and actor who has performed in Bollywood and Indian English films. He is the recipient of the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India, and has won several Filmfare Awards.
Sonu Nigam was born on 3rd September 1983 in Delhi, India. He got his early training in Hindustani classical music from his father, Pandit Brij Narayan Nigam, and later continued his studies under Pandit Balakrushna Sharma. He made his debut in Bollywood movie "Mausam" (1996), where he was seen in a supporting role. His first song "Zindagi Aa Raha Hai" from the same film was a superhit and further added to his popularity. Nigam got his first major break with "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani" (2002), where he played the lead role of Ranbir Kapoor's best friend.
Nigam gained positive reviews for his performance in "Dhoom-2" (2006) and "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" (2008). Recently, he presented his new album titled "Aap Kaa Surroor" with songs like "Rang De Basanti" & "Ghar Daa Ghar Baz Aao".
Nigam also appeared as himself on an episode of "Bigg Boss 6".
