Sonny Bill Williams is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League. He was originally selected to play for the New South Wales State of Origin team, but was later suspended for hitting an opponent with his forearm during the 2010 series against the Queensland Maroons. Williams played rugby league for Eastern Suburbs in the NRL before making his debut for the New Zealand national team in 2006. He has since represented the Kiwis at the 2008 and 2012 Rugby League World Cups, and in 2014 captained his country in their tour of Great Britain.
