Soichiro Honda was a Japanese engineer, industrial designer, inventor, and entrepreneur. During World War II, he joined the Japanese Army Air Force and began work on various aircraft projects. In 1945, he founded the Honda Motor Company with a group of investors. It was the first Japanese automaker to be founded after the end of World War II
Honda's first two-wheeled motorcycle prototype built in 1949 was powered by a rear-mounted 499 cc engine with a five-speed manual transmission. The bike was named "Memo" (Model M00). In 1981, Honda introduced their first four-wheeled vehicle, the New Qwikmax scooter, which was also notable for being Honda's first scooter to use a 45 hp 4-stroke engine.
