S.L. Ross was born in the small town of Harvey, Illinois. She began her writing career while attending college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois, receiving a BS degree in Journalism

She then went on to receive her MBA from the University of Southern California. She is the author of four novels, The Sudden Call, A Time To Be Born, The House Next Door, and A Time To Be Loved. S.L.'s short stories have appeared in numerous magazines including Southern Living, American Baby, and Redbook magazine.
Her articles and essays have been featured in numerous national and local publications and newspapers and she has been a guest columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and an entertainment columnist for Sun Tzu's Southern Tales magazine.
