Skloot is a science writer and author of two nonfiction books, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Theagraffi: The Man Who Conquered Time. Skloot has been a National Magazine Award finalist for her work on The Immortal Life, and her articles have appeared in a wide range of publications, including the New York Times Magazine, the New Yorker, the Atlantic Monthly, the Smithsonian, and the Sunday Times Magazine in London. Her work has been anthologized in The Best American Science Writing series. In 2000 she received the Distinguished Contribution to Science Writing Award from the National Association of Science Writers
