Sher-E-Yazdan (English: Lord of the Words) (Urdu: شریف يازدان) is an Urdu name and a pen-name of Shaikh Yusuf Sarwar (شیخ العياشی). He was born in village of Karor, District Ghotki, Sindh (Pakistan). His uncle, Moulvi Abdul Ghani Sarwar, encouraged him to read books. In 1947 he moved to Karachi and studied at the Darul Uloom Karachi. After the death of his father, he moved to India and studied at Darul Uloom Deoband under the supervision of his Shaykh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi.
He joined Darul Uloom Deoband as a teacher in 1954 where he taught Urdu for eight years. In 1961 he came back to Pakistan and received advanced Islamic education from Shaikh Allama Hakeem Mohammad Ashraf Ali Thanvi from whom he learnt many advanced teachings. In 1971 he left for Mecca where he continued his study under the guidance of prominent scholars such as Shaikh Abdul Kareem Bedi, Shaikh Nazim Uddin Siddiqui and Shaikh Muhammed Hussain Arshad.
In 1974 after returning from Hajj, he founded The Islamic Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the teachings of Islam.
