Shelagh Delaney is an author, poet and playwright. She grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and her family emigrated to Australia in the 1960s. Delany is best known for her writing of the comic novel Hilda; or; The Autobiography of a White Elephant, which was adapted into a film of the same name. Her most recent novel is The Other Half of the Sky
Her poetry collection, At Swim-Two-Birds, won the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 2002.
