Shaun Alexander (born December 9, 1979) is a former American football running back for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, and was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He is also remembered for his performance against the New Orleans Saints during Super Bowl XLVIII to earn the nickname "The Beast" from sportswriters. Alexander is married to Tiffani Cook Alexander and has three children: Austin Alexander (born August 13, 2004), Shayne Alexander (born May 27, 2011), and Olivia Bailey-Alexander (born July 14, 2014). He attended Snohomish High School and participated in football, basketball, baseball, cross country skiing, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, volleyball and wrestling. As a sophomore running back he set Snohomish County career records for rushing yards (542) and touchdowns scored (21). He was named All-State Honorable Mention as a junior after racking up 1,843 yards on 226 carries with 31 touchdowns .

That same season he was named All-State Honorable Mention as a linebacker after collecting 119 tackles with 15 sacks. As a senior he rushed for 1,444 yards on 180 carries with 19 touchdowns while also recording 82 tackles with 5 sacks . His senior year he was named All-State Player of the Year by The Seattle Times as well as All-County Honorable Mention.

He then played two seasons at UC Berkeley where he majored in marketing with minors in sociology and criminal justice. On January 16, 2017 it was announced that Alexander is suing Nike for giving him less money than he expected after his seven year NFL career ended due to injury at age 30 . The suit claims that Nike owed him $6 million due to bonuses he had earned over his career but failed to pay him until now citing "unconscionable conduct".
