Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an award-winning Pakistani producer, director, and actress who grew up in Karachi, Pakistan. An outspoken advocate for women's rights, she is the first Pakistani woman ever to win an Oscar; the first Pakistani woman to direct a film (Saving Face); and the first female director of a documentary to be nominated for an Academy Award (A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness) She is also the founder of 8×8 Films which produces films about issues that matter to women and girls.
