Sergei Dovlatov (1962–2002) was a Russian writer, essayist, journalist and satirist. He was the author of many books including "The Chronicles of Arhantov" (1994), which became one of the best-selling books in Russia. He began his career as a satirist, writing under the pseudonym Sergei Dovlatov. He was also editor-in-chief of "Sovetskaya Rossiya", a newspaper published by the Soviet Union's Committee for State Security (KGB)
Dovlatov was found shot several times in an apartment near Gorky Park in Moscow on 14 August 2002. He had been stabbed and beaten after being abducted by unknown assailants.
