Seong pill kon was born in Pyongyang, North Korea in 1946, and earned a degree in Engineering from the University of Natal, Durban South Africa in 1980. He is the author of several books about his country's history, including The Life and Times of Kim Il-sung, People's War: The Korean War 1950-53 and North Korea: A Country Study. In 2013 Seong pill kon published a book entitled The Strange Story of the Red Line. This book narrates how a KPA unit crossed the DMZ and attacked a US Army unit near Suwon, 40 miles south of Seoul.
