Rudy Rucker was born in Pasadena, California, in 1945. He received his bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, master's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. He has taught mathematics at the University of California at Los Angeles for over thirty years. Rudy Rucker's other science fiction novels include Mind Mirror (1981), The Hacker and the Ants (1998) and The Big U (2001), and his nonfiction books include The Hacker and the Ants: A Story of the Future, and The Meaning of It All: Fritjof Capra and Modern Physics (with Brian Swimme)
