Ronnie Milsap is an American country music artist. He is perhaps best known for the hit singles "It's a Heartache", "You've Got a Friend", "She's in Love with the Boy", and "Smoky Mountain Night". A two-time Grammy nominee, Milsap has recorded 16 studio albums, the last of which was released posthumously in 2011. Milsap was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 26, 1947
His father played guitar and his mother loved to sing; the two would often perform duets. Milsap attended Central High School, where he played football and basketball. Milsap graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Cox, in 1971. The couple have two children: Jordan (born 1975) and Ronnie Jr. (born 1977).
