Robert McChesney, journalist, media critic and author of Rich Media, Poor Democracy: Communication Politics in Dubious Times (2015), is director of the Institute for Communication & Democracy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is the author of several other books, including The Problem with Diversity (2012) and Digital Disconnect (2010). He is also the editor of The Oxford Companion to American Political Thought (2012), co-host of the weekly public radio program Radio Free Utopia (2008–2010), and a frequent guest on radio and television.
