The late Robert Lynd was one of the most influential writers of his generation. His life and work were dedicated to the cause of social justice. He also traveled widely in Russia, China and the United States and lectured widely on art and literature. In 1933 he moved to America and became a researcher at the International Labor Defense, advancing the cause of labor by contributing to the defense of striking workers and their families. During World War II he was a leader in the fight against fascism in Europe.
After the war's end, he traveled widely in Europe again. On October 26, 1967 Mr. Lynd passed away in London after a long illness.
