Robert Browning Hamilton was a Scottish poet, essayist and critic. He is best known for his collection of poems "Parallel Stories" (1834), which include "The Bridge of Sighs" and "Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister". His most popular works are the collections of short stories "Men and Women" (1855), and a volume of essays, "The Poetical Works of Robert Browning" (1867). His last work was a biography of the Renaissance dramatist Christopher Marlowe.
