Renée Fleming is an American mezzo-soprano opera singer. She was born in Jackson, Mississippi on February 26, 1962.
She has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Decca Records, Sony Classical Records, Virgin Classics, Nonesuch Records and Emmy Awards Productions.
She won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording for her performance in Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Die tote Stadt with Vittorio Grigolo conducting the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. She was further honored with a Grammy nomination in 2001 for her performance of "Il Trovatore" with James Conlon conducting the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra
